She took the time to explain all aspects of the renovation and if there were two or three options for something she would walk us through the pros and cons (and costs) of each which we really appreciated. She would also give us her recommendations (and why) when we needed guidance.
She was transparent around budgets, estimates were within range of actuals, and would let us know immediately if there were any surprises. It turns out our kitchen did not have a proper foundation or insulation. She was flexible with scope creep (see above about foundation) and her sub-contractors were all professional and respectful." "We hired Anna as our contractor for two separate projects: a full kitchen/main floor/stairway renovation, and a second floor total reconfiguration that involved a full bathroom re-sizing and renovation, and the creation of 2 extra bedrooms from the existing space. - She did not pretend to have all the answers right away; and
- She listened to what we wanted to do in our home, rather than telling us what would be possible and what would be impossible.
Ultimately, we found Anna’s pricing to be competitive and decided that she would do our bathroom first, and then we would discuss whether we would go ahead with the main floor together. The bathroom was completed on time (four weeks for total gut job, including demo) and on budget. We decided to go ahead with the main floor, which included the removal of most of the walls, and then the installation of a new kitchen, powder room, electric, plumbing and ductwork. Some structural work on our 90-year-old home was also necessary. All of the main work was completed on schedule and on budget. At one point, we required a re-painting of the entire main floor. Anna accomplished this on a rush basis so that the subsequent trades were not delayed. The best thing about working with Anna: Communication during the project. We received written updates every day or two, and there was no mystery about what was being done or when it would be completed. No work was done without our approval, and there were no surprise increases in the price of the project." (read less)
